What really drives me to be a visual storyteller, is creating content that makes a real difference in the world. I specialize in photographic and video storytelling and environmental portraiture for Nonprofits, Small Businesses and Corporations to create emotive images that’s at the heart of their brand stories.
Based on the needs of the client, I can work either independently or collaboratively as part of a team focused on the common goal. When working independently, I often use my skills to gain access to delicate situations by first establishing trust and rapport–which is critical to create comfort and cooperation from the subject. This approach allows me to work successfully with a variety of individuals and communities around the world.
I honed my visual approach during my 15 years as the Senior staff photographer at Rotary International, one of the world’s leading humanitarian service organizations. Over the span of my career at Rotary, I documented global projects of people taking action to better their own communities–some as crucial as eradicating Polio. Other projects I worked on included providing clean water, maternal and child health, peace programs, education and growing local economies. Often my work included collaborating with top-rated NGO’s and organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, WHO, UNICEF, Habitat for Humanity and ShelterBox.
I can work as either a still photographer or produce video projects. For example, I recently produced and directed the India segment for the “Heroes of Polio Eradication” video series as part of Rotary’s World Polio Day.
A current project I’m working on is photographing regenerative agriculture, a conservative and rehabilitative approach to food and farming. Benefits include reversing climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown, improving the water cycle, creating a healthy and more just food system.
